As empty nesters, my clients wanted to upscale the look and feel of their kitchen that felt cold. They were considering a full remodel, but the cabinetry was, for the most part, still in good shape, and the door style was still current. Given their budget, and overall goals throughout the rest of the house, a decision was made to complete a light remodel without replacing the cabinets. The lighting scheme was sufficient, but they wanted more storage in the refrigerator, an “open” focal point above the stovetop without losing cabinet space, and they needed appropriately sized bar stools to accommodate an athletic build. From an aesthetic point of view, the client wanted to incorporate art from her husband’s trips to Africa, and when complete, she wanted a feeling of warmth.
