Homeowners are often unclear how to work with an interior designer. Here are the answers to some of your most pressing questions.
Design Services Retainers
After we have completed our initial consultation to determine the size, scope, and budget range of the project, and you decide to work with us, we will secure a retainer. The Retainer covers the time needed to develop the concepts, drawings, and/or selections for your project(s).
Renovating or Building a New Home?
The myriad of choices can be overwhelming. With a flat fee Retainer secured prior to the project start, we will partner with your General Contractor, Builder, or Architect to assist you with material and finish selections, as well as choosing interior and exterior colors. This may include cabinetry, countertops, appliances, lighting, flooring, and fixtures.
Full Service Design Projects
A project could involve a room, group of rooms, or whole home. We source from high quality, to-the-trade suppliers, one design element at a time, and we do not carry inventory. Importantly, you should note that we do not shop online or at retail stores. Each project’s final cost is based on the investment that is agreed on before the design process begins. You might want to start by simply updating your home with wallpaper, pillows, and art, or you might be ready to transform the whole space. We know the retail costs across many suppliers in the good, better, and best quality categories, and will work with you to determine what is realistic. From there, we will maximize the quality of purchases available to you within your budget. Flat fee Retainers apply to this type of service, and are based upon the size and complexity of your project(s).
At an hourly rate we are available for interior and exterior color consultations to select an appropriate Benjamin Moore paint color.
