Homeowners are often unclear how to work with an interior designer. Here are the answers to some of your most pressing questions.
Retail Based Fees
For full service design projects, you pay for the products you purchase. No additional fees or hourly rates apply. A project could involve a room, group of rooms, or whole home.
Each project’s final cost is based on the investment that is agreed on before the design process begins. You might want to start by simply updating your home with wallpaper, pillows, and art, or you might be ready to transform a complete room. We know the retail costs across many suppliers in the good, better, and best quality categories, and will work with you to determine what is realistic. From there, we will maximize the quality of purchases available to you within your budget.
After we have completed our initial consultation to determine the size, scope, and budget range of the project, and you decide to work with us, we will secure a retainer. The retainer is a show of good faith, and covers the time needed to develop the concepts, drawings, and selections for your project. The retainer will be applied to the final payment on completion of your project. However, if you do not move forward with the product purchases to complete the project, the retainer becomes non-refundable, and compensates us for our time.
At an hourly rate, we are available for interior and exterior color consultations to select an appropriate Benjamin Moore paint.
Renovating or Building a New Home?
The myriad of choices can be overwhelming. At an hourly rate we will partner with your General Contractor, Builder, or Architect to assist you with material and finish selections, as well as choosing interior and exterior colors. This may include cabinetry, countertops, appliances, lighting, flooring, and fixtures. We define this process as a project, and a retainer will be secured prior to the project start.
